It's easy to be delighted by a sighting of marine mammals and want to get a closer look! But do you know the procedures that apply?
Operators at Kaikōura have asked us to remind our staff and members about the unique rules of Kaikōura airspace and the rules that protect marine life.
Before flying in the area, read the Kaikōura (NZKI) MBZ pages in AIP New Zealand and follow the published procedures. Aircraft operating near marine mammals must also comply with the Marine Mammals Protection Regulations 1992.
