Engine Run-Up Etiquette on Taxiway Charlie
Point prop wash at the grass during run-ups on Taxiway Charlie, take only half the taxiway, and use the Western apron if space is tight.

When the engine is running, the propeller generates prop wash – air pushed behind the aircraft at high speed, especially at high power.
When doing run-ups on Taxiway Charlie:
- Point the prop wash towards the grass, away from taxiways and other aircraft.
- Position the aircraft so you only occupy one half of the taxiway, leaving room for another aircraft to use the other side.
Anything behind you can be affected by your prop wash, which can be extremely hazardous. If there isn't enough room to set up safely on Charlie, use the Western apron.
Remember: as a pilot, you're legally responsible for your aircraft, your passengers and any hazard your aircraft poses to anyone else.
