Checklist Discipline: Consistent, Unhurried, Verified
Use the checklist every flight without rushing, visually verify each control, and let the engine warm until oil temperature is in the green before run-ups.

Checklists keep our procedures consistent, minimise human error and make sure important steps aren't overlooked.
As pilots, it's easy to feel eager to get airborne. But moving too quickly through pre-flight tasks can result in checklist items being skipped or only partly completed.
In the colder months, it's even more important to let the engine warm up properly before applying significant power. Always confirm the oil temperature is in the green range before beginning run-ups as part of your checklist. If that means waiting five to ten minutes, that's completely acceptable and helps avoid unnecessary stress on the engine.
Useful reminders when using checklists:
- Be consistent – use the checklist on every flight without exception.
- Take your time – rushing increases the chance of missing something important.
- Verify visually – when selecting or adjusting a control, look directly at it and confirm it's the correct one.
